The church was built in 1482 on the basis of a previous building of the thirteenth century and was consequently consecrated in 1486. In the sixteenth century the church was remodeled, and on that occasion it was frescoed by the painter Battista Mioni. After being damaged by the 1976 earthquake, it was rebuilt in its current form.
