The presence of a first church can be dated through ecclesiastical documents as far back as the 13th century. In 1663 it was banned by the patriarch Marco Gradenigo due to its indecent conditions, the Vicinia di Moruzzo and Modotto approved its restoration on 23 June 1663.
Destroyed by the 1976 earthquake, the church was rebuilt maintaining its original characteristics.
