The Museo delle Fornaci in Treppo Grande represents a compendium of the civilization of the furnaces in Friuli Venezia Giulia. In fact, this exhibition is a permanent exhibition that collects tangible and intangible testimonies of the long history of kilns in the region.
The exhibition itinerary describes the various stages of clay extraction, the methods of forming and drying brick materials, but, above all, it speaks about the historical technological breakthrough in firing brick.
Inside the Museo delle Fornaci di Treppo Grande, an educational section explains the functioning of the Hoffmann furnace, which is in fact a very complex building-machine. You can load an oven for cooking and you can put the bricks to dry in "gambetta", you can stack the bricks or learn how to "build" an outdoor brick kiln.
